چکیده
Abstract. The Rashrashiyah Formation of the Sirhan Basin in northern Saudi Arabia contains diverse assemblages planktonic foraminifera. We examined biostratigraphy, stratigraphic range and preservation upper Eocene Assemblages are well-preserved diverse, with 40 species 11 genera. All samples assigned to Priabonian Globigerinatheka semiinvoluta Highest Occurrence Zone (E14), consistent calcareous nannofossil biostratigraphy indicating CNE17. Well-preserved foraminifera from lower part rare worldwide. Our study provides new insights into ranges many species. find older (Zone E14) occurrences several Globoturborotalita previously thought have evolved latest E15, E16) or Oligocene; these include G. barbula, cancellata, gnaucki, pseudopraebulloides, paracancellata. Older for Dentoglobigerina taci Subbotina projecta also found, kugleri occurs at a younger level than proposed. revisions indicate that late had higher tropical–subtropical diversity hitherto reported.

متن کاملSystematic Taxonomy of Exceptionally Well-preserved Planktonic Foraminifera from the Eocene/oligocene Boundary of Tanzania
Diverse and extremely well-preserved assemblages of planktonic foraminifera were recovered from three drill holes through the Eocene/Oligocene boundary in southern Tanzania (Tanzania Drilling Project Sites 11, 12, and 17). The excellent state of preservation of the tests permits detailed investigation of wall textures and surface ornamentation, helping us to elucidate details of functional morp...
متن کاملLarger benthic foraminifera from the Middle Eocene
Larger benthic foraminifera (LBF) are common and diverse throughout the Paleogene sediments of southern Tanzania, but have previously been little studied. A recent programme of onshore drilling known as the Tanzania Drilling Project has recovered large proportion of this succession for palaeoclimatic and palaeontological study. The sediment is largely a hemipelagic clay with secondary gravity s...

The Palaeozoic rock units mainly, Ghelli, Niur, Padeha, Khoshyeilagh and Mobark formations are well-exposed in the north of Robat-e Gharabil village. 116 out of 157 surface samples were analyzed to determine aged relationships of Ghelli Formation. The samples of Ghelli Formation are dominated by acritarchs (42 species belonging to 23 genera) and chitinozoans (26 species distributing among 15 ge...
